The Mission to Seafarers

The Mission to Seafarers is a non profit organisation located in the heart of Belfast’s Sailortown, along the historical Maritime Trail. The Angel Café offers local, homemade dishes in a unique oasis of calm next to the busy Port of Belfast. Choose to relax in the cosy lounge, conservatory or tranquil garden. Whether you want to put your feet up, have a cup of tea and a bite to eat after a long walk or have an important business meeting, the Mission’s Flying Angel Seafarers’ Centre can accommodate you.

Our delicious homemade food is freshly prepared every day, showcasing local favourites such as Irish stew, scones and fish and chips. You can also enjoy refreshments, relaxing in our cosy lounge and reading area, play pool or bask in the sunshine in our conservatory and tea garden (it doesn’t always rain in Belfast!)

We welcome everyone at The Flying Angel Seafarers’ Centre, including walking groups, bus tours, church groups – the list goes on! Just contact us in advance to order your food or sweet treats and we’ll have a mouth-watering spread ready and waiting for you to sit back and enjoy on arrival.

Gift Shop

Amongst our other facilities we have a small gift shop selling a range of nautical and local souvenirs. We can also exchange US Dollars and Euros for Sterling Pounds and have a selection of international phone cards.

Conference Facilities

We have two purpose built conference
suites (one with disabled access), hosting 20-40 delegates. We provide
full amenities including WiFi, data projectors, free parking, a
selection of catering options, and plenty of space to relax and take a
break. Every conference booked will help us to provide care and support
for those who spend their lives at sea.

Arrangements can be made
to open at any time during the week or weekend for tours, groups,
conferences, events etc. by advance booking.

The Seafarers’ Chapel

As a Christian organisation The Mission to Seafarers opens its heart and doors to seafarers and visitors of every religion and ethnic group. The Chapel is available for use for quiet prayer and reflection.

About The Mission to Seafarers

The Mission to Seafarers was founded in 1856 and is entirely funded by voluntary donations.
The wellbeing of seafarers is at the heart of everything we do. Around the world, from Belfast to Bussan, The Mission to Seafarers is there for the 1.5 million seafarers who crew the world's merchant fleet.

Did you know that 90% of all goods that arrive in Northern Ireland come by sea? The men and women who bring you these goods, face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat. Piracy, shipwreck, abandonment and separation from loved ones are just a few of the problems merchant seafarers face. So come and make use of our Flying Angel Seafarers’ Centre and you make a donation to an extremely valuable cause.
