On Saturday 16 November the Lord Mayor, Councillor John Finucane along with Cool FM’s Melissa Riddell, John Kearns and TV favourites PJ Masks will kick off the festive season at the annual Belfast Christmas Lights Switch-On!

All tickets for the Belfast Christmas Lights Switch-On have now been allocated. If you have secured tickets online, don’t forget to print your tickets or download them to your phone for scanning at the event.

Time and Location

The event will take place from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in front of the Belfast City Hall.

Tickets

All tickets for the Belfast Christmas Lights Switch-On have now been allocated. If you have secured tickets online, you must print off your tickets in advance or have the QR code ready to scan on your mobile device.

Entry

Access to the general event site is via three colour coded entrances. Download map of event entry points.

  • Green tickets enter via Donegall Place
  • Red tickets enter via Donegall Square West/Wellington Place
  • Blue tickets enter via Donegall Square East/Chichester Street

Access to the accessible viewing platforms is as follows.

  • Accessible viewing platform 1 ticket access via Donegall Square West-Wellington Place
  • Accessible viewing platform 2 ticket access via Donegall Square East-Chichester Street

If you have been successful in receiving accessible tickets you can call into the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre to pick up your tickets or if you have already requested your accessible tickets to be posted, this will be done in advance of the event. Parking

There is no designated parking for the event but many city centre car parks will stay open later to facilitate event goers. See our map of car parks in the area.

Public Transport

Some Translink services will be diverted during the show so check Translink’s website for updates.

Road Restrictions

Traffic diversions will be in place around Belfast City Hall from 2pm-11pm on Saturday 16 November and there will be a complete closure to all vehicular traffic at 5pm. Affected roads include:

  • Wellington Place
  • Donegall Square North
  • Donegall Square West
  • Chichester Street
  • Donegall Place
  • Upper Arthur Street
