Description

Visual artist Lise McGreevy presents this photographic essay depicting abandoned homes in Donegal.

Following a career as a photojournalist, Lise McGreevy chose this location given its unique position – geographically north but under the jurisdiction of the south, thus representing both sides of the border.

The abandoned homes represent our languages, culture and heritage and ask the viewer “have we abandoned these for the sake of the political divide here?” Composer Marie Therese Davis, poet Jim Johnston and film maker Paul Whittaker created original works based on McGreevy photographs. Davis and Johnston work shall be shown alongside this exhibition.

You are very welcome to the launch of this exhibition on Thursday 7 November at 7pm in Dánlann Dillon. Refreshments will be provided.

An t-amharc-ealaíontóir Lise McGreevy, bhíodh sí ina fóta-iriseoir agus sa taispeántas seo, léiríonn a cuid grianghraf tithe a tréigeadh i dTír Chonaill. Roghnaigh McGreevy an ceantar sin mar gheall ar a shuíomh ar leith – ó thuaidh ó thaobh na tíreolaíochta de ach faoi dhlínse an rialtais ó dheas, agus é ionadaíoch dá réir ar dhá thaobh na teorann. Léiriú ar ár dteangacha, ár gcultúr agus ár n-oidhreacht iad na tithe tréigthe sin agus fiafraítear dínn “an bhfuil siad siúd tréigthe againn mar gheall ar an scoilt pholaitiúil anseo?” An cumadóir ceoil Marie Therese Davis, an file Jim Johnston agus an scannánóir Paul Whittaker, chruthaigh siad saothair bunaithe ar ghrianghraif McGreevy. Taispeánfar saothar Davis agus Johnston leis an taispeántas seo.

Tá fearadh na fáilte romhat chuig seoladh an taispeántais ag 7pm, Déardaoin 7 November i nDánlann Dillon. Beidh sólaistí ar fáil.
