The Belfast Music programme is having a festive makeover!

With a variety of pop-up performances and programmed events in some of the city’s best music venues, the Belfast music scene is bursting with festive entertainment this Christmas!

Look out for the Caribbean Christmas celebrations as well as performances by local choirs – from ukulele bands, jazz, and classical, there will be something for all music lovers!

Sunday 8 December - The Wonderful Winter Busk Off

The Busk Off After Jam! - Belfast's streets are full of skilled musicians from all walks of life. To celebrate, Belfast is inviting musicians and bands from all disciplines to take part in a competition which will run live across the city in just one afternoon. There will be a prize giving ceremony followed by a mass jam from the prize winners. For more information, please visit www.facebook.com

Thursday 12 December - The Campfire Sessions

Hosted by band No Oil Paintings - Afternoons of literature and poetry through song.

"Join us as we revel humankind's most primitive form of entertainment 'The Story'. For centuries we have explored the story in many mediums, through song, literature and poetry to name a few. We will explore these art forms accompanied by six acts, allowing us to delve into their musings and find out what their stories are really about!"

Saturday 14 December - Soda and Champ Animation Finale

50 musicians including a full choir and brass band will provide the live soundtrack to the final chapter of the animated story of Soda and Champ. Projected on the buildings opposite Castle Court, this promises to be a landmark event. With Worldwide Sounds stage taking place within the Black Santa Bazaar in St Anne's Cathedral as well this, it's gearing up to be a Super Saturday for the whole family

Saturday 7-31 December - Sound Healing Spas and Performances

The Sound Healing Spa offers sound therapy group relaxation sessions, training, retreats and events. The perfect "Time Out" of the hustle and bustle around the festive season.

Thursday 19 December - Strange Victory Records

A family friendly event consisting of live music performances and music related, multimedia content. A mobile cinema, showing specially curated musical film content as well as a specially commissioned film showcasing a historical look at Belfast's musical history from the 60s through to present day, enabling all to gain some knowledge on Belfast as a musical city.

A 'Pop-Up Art Gallery' will exhibit a series of professional gig photographs and gig promo posters from Belfast gigs across the decades. Expect 'Musical Face Painting' for children young and old, with famous musical iconography being the basis of the face painting.

To complement the theme of this gathering, popcorn, candy floss and food stalls will be showcasing the best of CastleCourt traders. A number of local DJs will soundtrack the day in style!
