Description

Join Our Place in Space for an explorative journey through the Universe with Professor Lucie Green and Nobel Laureate Professor Brian Schmidt which will be chaired by TV presenter Mark Langtry.

First up, journey to the Sun with Lucie as she shares some of her research on how this fascinating star produces eruptions of magnetised plasma which can cause stormy space weather that affects our electricity, communications, and navigation here on Earth.

Up next, let Professor Brian Schmidt open your mind to Dark Energy! During this discussion, Brian will explain how in 1998, he and fellow researchers studying exploding stars, discovered dark energy, a force that makes up over 70% of the Universe, in a result that completely changed cosmology.

This event will have a live BSL interpreter.

This event is organised as part of the Our Place in Space project.
