A selected group exhibition from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Collection curated by Joanna Johnston 1st – 28th February 2024.
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland would like to welcome you to an exhibition of selected artworks from its permanent collection.
This group exhibition brings together various artists from the Collection, many whose process of making art is through social interactions, connecting their work to the real world, its communities and people’s everyday lives. On display, we can see a range of approaches to ‘socially engaged’ artwork creation, that offer the artist’s unique interpretation of the society that surrounds them, showing how art can help uncover truths and expand on our perspectives.
The exhibition features visual artists working in Northern Ireland at different stages in their career, from the early graduate to those who are more established in their careers. Artists have chosen to work across different mediums including drawing, sculpture, photography and video, to translate their ideas and unpick their themes.
The exhibition features selected works by Shiro Masuyama, Sinead Bhreathnach-Cashell, Nina Oltarzewska and Sally O’Dowd.
