Tours of the Newly Restored Theatre
Description
See the restored Grand Opera House Theatre in all its glory, and hear the fascinating story of its 126-year history.
With a newly restored auditorium and a stunningly transformed foyer, the Grand Opera House is looking more beautiful than ever!
Due to popular demand, tours of the Theatre will return on selected dates in August 2022.
Led by a knowledgeable Customer Experience Assistant, Theatre Tours give you the chance to see the incredible results of the restoration of this iconic building, and explore the fascinating story of the Grand Opera House’s rich and colourful history from 1895 to the present day. Follow in the footsteps of Charlie Chaplin, Luciano Pavarotti and Darcey Bussell by walking out onto the iconic stage; see what happens behind the scenes during a show, and explore the symbolism and meaning of the gods, elephants, stars and other stunning architectural features inside Frank Matcham’s auditorium.
Theatre Tours last for between 45 minutes and an hour, and tour participants also have exclusive access to the heritage exhibition for 30 minutes before their tour start time.
Please Note:
- The Northern Ireland Executive has removed social distancing restrictions for theatres, and they will therefore be operating at full capacity.
- For the protection of all audience members and staff, and in line with the latest guidance from the NI Executive, they would encourage you to wear a face covering at all times, including while seated in main auditorium or in The Studio, unless you are eating, drinking or exempt.
- Hand sanitisers are readily available throughout the building, and screens are in place at all bars and at the box office. To minimise contact between staff and theatregoers, contactless payments are available throughout the Theatre, and the Theatre is cleaned thoroughly between performances.
- If you or a member of your party are displaying Covid symptoms or are required to self-isolate, you must not come to the Theatre. All tickets in your booking will be exchanged or a credit note given, as long as you let them know before 11am on the day of the performance.
- They keep their Covid-secure measures under regular review and will update their procedures in line with any new guidance or requirement issued by local or central government.
