VE-Day 80 Commemorations Lisburn
Description
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has unveiled an exciting programme of events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
Highlights include:
9am: The Town Crier will deliver the official VE Day 80 Proclamation followed by a Flag Raising Ceremony at Lagan Valley Island.
11am: The Royal British Legion will host a wreath laying ceremony at Lisburn War Memorial to commemorate VE Day 80.
2pm – 4pm: Enjoy a lively afternoon of 1940s music and dancing at a Tea Dance in Market Square.
8.15pm: The Band of the Royal Irish Regiment will parade from Market Square, via Castle Street, to Castle Gardens where they will perform their renowned Beating Retreat before the official VE Day 80 Beacon is lit at 9.30pm.
Come along, reflect on the past, and celebrate the legacy of peace in our time.
