The Donaghadee Local History Research Forum presents a walking tour of Donaghadee.

Donaghadee harbour celebrates 200 years on 1 August 2021! The seaside town will be celebrating with a weekend of activity between 30 July-1 August 2021. This guided walking tour will provide participants with an insight into the building of the iconic harbour and its importance to the development of the town.

Donaghadee is the nearest port to Scotland and boasts a rich maritime history. Immerse yourself in stories from 1600 to the present day. You will have an opportunity to visit the harbor and the current lifeboat station. Learn about the Sir Samuel Kelly lifeboat, which rescued survivors from the MV princess Victoria in 1953. You will also explore the history of the Moat and streets and Churches in the town.

A donation from ticket sales will be given to the Sir Samuel Kelly Lifeboat fund.
