Exciting, independent Taiwanese street food on Botanic Avenue, Belfast
There is also a new branch now open on Lisburn Road offering the same tasty food - located at 338 Lisburn Road, BT9 6GH.
What is a Bao?
Gua Bao, also known as a steamed Bao, is a popular food in Taiwan and Fujian. They are a unique type of soft dough, filled with your choice of filling and topped with flavour and garnish - some might say that it is the ultimate sandwich!
Producing the highest quality bao bun requires detailed and exact practices carried out by skilled and dedicated "baoists"
From the mixing of the dough all the way through to steaming, these "baoists" follow a meticulous process, not allowing the dough to rest for too long, and working to exact timings - it is something of a masterpiece.
Once steamed and cooked, these cushiony and supple baos are packed with your choice of shredded beef, hacked chicken, pulled pork of tofu, and topped with combo flavours or garnishes to awaken your tastebuds.
Fortunately for you, bao dough is only moderate with gluten, which makes them a light snack, perfect for lunchtime or before going out - without the dreaded "food coma"!
