Description

One of Ireland’s leading musical theatre companies, Belfast Operatic produces shows and concerts annually in venues around Northern Ireland. Specialising in musical theatre, their high quality productions gain both critical and public acclaim, in venues such as the Grand Opera House, the Waterfront, the Mac and the Ulster Hall.

Introducing the Belfast Operatic Company (BOC) – a multi award winning musical company comprised of local participants, each with their own non-musical lives, who are united by their love of music and musical theatre in Northern Ireland, and come together to produce musical theatre and choral works on a grand scale in Northern Ireland.

Responsible for Titanic The Musical, it is a stunning and stirring production focusing on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of her passengers who each boarded with stories and personal ambitions of their own. Check goh.co.uk  for tickets.

One of the largest musical theatre companies, based in their own purpose built premises at Belfast’s Harbour Estate at Heron Road, BOC has gone from strength to strength over the years, striving to bring new and exciting musical works to the Province. Recent sell-out productions include Disney’s Beauty And The Beast, Sister Act, The Addams Family, Jekyll and Hyde and Titanic The Musical, all at Belfast’s most prestigious venue, the Grand Opera House, where they have been performing annually for over 25 years - considered by some to be the Company’s second home.

Even throughout three decades of the worst of the Northern Ireland Troubles, this resourceful Company best known for the quality of its choral ensembles, has gone from strength to strength, finding various theatres large enough in which to stage their shows.

BOC is a former winner of the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera Premier Trophy, and more latterly won five awards for its recent presentation of Titanic The Musical, including Best Overall Show, Best Director, Best Chorus, Best Male Singer, and the Best Musical Director.

A bunch of people from all walks of life – professional, unemployed, retired, students, homebuilders, businessmen - et al. The one thing that links them all is the passion of choral music and the live musical stage. The benefits they get, apart from the buzz of performing in venues around the country including Belfast’s Grand Opera House, is great friendship, great craic, oh, and to be part of a magnificent award winning singing ensemble.

Musical theatre is the highest grossing tourist enterprise in the UK, with not only a booming market in London, but also in regional venues. Theatre and cultural tourism attracts more than twice as many tourists to the UK as sporting events, according to new research published by Visit Britain, with each visitor spending more pound per person than any other tourism sector. With an award-winning company such as Belfast Operatic on your doorstep, BOC hopes the opportunity to capatalise on this market and showcase homegrown talent is one which you will enjoy just as much as they do.

Whatever your taste in music, you can be sure that BOC will provide a great evening's entertainment! The Company is available to hire for corporate entertainment, fundraising concerts and much more – a guaranteed good night’s entertainment included!
