The Black Box is a multi-purpose arts venue in the heart of Belfast's bustling Cathedral Quarter. With art, music, literature, film, comedy, cabaret and all points in between!
A home for innovative and alternative live music, theatre, literature, comedy, film, visual art, science, circus, cabaret and all points in between – The Black Box is one of Belfast’s most beloved venues.
The Black Box is housed in the Cathedral Quarter in a Grade II listed building on Hill Street, originally constructed c. 1850 and converted into its current usage as a fully accessible arts venue in 2006. The venue is on one level with automated doors and accessible facilities.
Under 18s are welcome in the venue with their parents before 8pm but cannot attend events after that time as the venue is licenced.
The Black Box is a charity and not-for-profit with generated income going back into the organisation and supporting the arts and an umbrella of projects for and by adults with learning disabilities.
The Green Room is open as a free-in cafe/bar and arts space Thursday-Saturday from 5pm. If you are a beer fan you will love our rotating beer taps!
The Green Room is also open throughout the week for other low-cost events. The Black Box main theatre space is open during events, please check the website for full event listings and details.
