Description

Mourne Creative seeks to keep the creativity of the Mournes alive and well by welcoming guests to craft workshops (facilitated by professional artists) from pottery, blacksmithing, frame weaving and everything in between.

Workshops are facilitated by professional artists with the aim of encouraging you to keep up your craft at home or to kick-start your own creative project.
Weekend workshops run from 10am-4pm with a picnic lunch overlooking the mountains from 1-2pm . The workshops range from ceramics, pottery frame, weaving, textile art and blacksmithing according to the seasonal schedule on www.mournecreative.com. There are one-day weekend workshops with options to stay over in luxury glamping pods to take another workshop the next day.
The workshops take place in a fully equipped barn workshop with all materials included at Gorse Hill Farm Bryansford, in a relaxed informal atmosphere (private or group workshops are available on request). The workshops are aimed at beginner level, so no prior experience is necessary. Just bring your sense of fun and your creativity.
If you have chosen the staying over option you can take a short hike up the mountains to experience the stunning views and fresh, country air; so bring appropriate footwear. Otherwise, you can hang out with the donkeys and the chickens.
Then return to the barn on Sunday to indulge in clay with Amy Mackle and create your own ceramic range of trinket-ware to keep or to give as presents. Amy will guide you through such ceramic techniques such as slab rolling pinching and glazing
Workshops are taken by fully qualified award-winning professional artists with the aim of encouraging you to keep up your chosen craft at home or to develop your own creative venture, such as selling on ETSY or at craft markets.
In the evening, dinner will be served around the campfire and you can sleep in the glamping pods equipped with sockets and fire bowl for toasting marshmallows.
There are several different booking options for your Mourne Creative experience, including an option for an overnight stay in the luxury glamping pods, with which you can take two workshops. This option gives you a chance to have a truly immersive Mourne experience. All materials, food and accommodation are included in the cost. One-day workshops are also available being only 45 minutes’ drive from Belfast or an hour and 30 minutes’ drive from Dublin.
There are many other activities to do in the Mourne area, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as visiting Tollymore Forest park; a local forest used for many TV and Film locations including Game of Thrones, Krypton and Your Highness. You can also book a tour of the forest a local tour guide.
Rediscover your creativity, reconnect with nature, make new friends, bring home a little bit of the magical Mourne mountains, and most of all to have fun.
