Description

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) and the International Council on Archives invite you to celebrate International Archives Day on Monday 10 June.

International Archives Day was established by the International Council on Archives to raise awareness of the importance of archives, promote their protection and free access to archives. The celebration also focuses on enabling dialogue between users of archives and archivists.
PRONI will be offering two guided tours - starting at 11:00am and 2:00pm (lasting for two hours).
Join a behind-the-scenes tour of PRONI to meet archival staff who support researchers or undertake cutting edge preservation work. In the Reading Room, visitors will have an opportunity to inspect original documents that reveal aspects of our local history from 1600 to 1800. The tour will also witness archival staff sorting, listing and cataloguing new materials and then continue into the repositories, where the records are stored, the Conservation Suite and the Photography Studio.
The tour will finish with light refreshments in the atrium where archival staff will be on hand to answer your questions.
Admission is free, however booking is essential.
