Description

The Morning Star is one of Belfast’s most historic and picturesque pubs dating back to 1810 and run by the McAlister family since 1989.

In the heart of Belfast, nestled between bustling streets, lies The Morning Star—a beacon of tradition, resilience, and familial warmth. As a family-owned establishment, The Morning Star stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the McAlister family, a family with deep roots in both farming and great Belfast hospitality, spanning five generations. The downstairs bar serves traditional pub grub retaining its beautiful original mahogany counter and old terrazzo floor.

Upstairs hosts The Lounge a recently refurbished 120-seat restaurant serving top quality local fayre with a full bar and great buzzing atmosphere. Make your next event truly unique with us, our space provides the perfect setting for creating cherished memories, designed to cater to bespoke events and celebrations. With personally crafted menus available for groups we guarantee an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. Recently Ranked by The Guardian as one of the 30 best places to grab a pub Sunday lunch in the UK!

The Morning Star has one of the most exciting pub menus serving food 12 noon - 10pm, 7 Days a week. Their ethos is farm to fork, buying prize winning beef and lamb from local farmers, and top sales along with raising some of our own and sourcing as close to home as possible. Their in-house master butcher ensures your steak is the best on the block and is responsible for handmaking burgers and sausages daily. The seafood is fresh daily and steaks including those cut to order and 1.5kg tomahawks feature on the menu.

They serve a range of craft local beers both bottled and draught, stock fine Irish Whiskeys & have an exciting menu of local gins. They also show most major sporting events, such as Golf, Boxing, proud supporters of Local Rugby and Belfast’s home of horse racing!
