Belfast City Hall Couple Walking

On Foot

Step up and step out on your visit to Belfast. There is no mode of transport more eco-friendly than your own two feet, and this compact city is easy to navigate on foot at a leisurely pace. Take your time and take in all the sights that Belfast has to offer. Download a city map and explore on your own terms, or get some local knowledge on a guided walking tour around the city.

Maritime Mile Couple on Bikes

On Your Bike

Belfast offers miles of cycle lanes taking you through the city and to the leafy suburbs beyond. Follow the Maritime Mile along the historic waterfront in the Titanic Quarter, or explore east Belfast by bike on the traffic-free Connswater Greenway and Comber Greenway.

If you need some wheels, there are Belfast Bikes available for public hire at over 40 docking stations around Belfast. You can register as a casual user or annual subscriber from £5 and the first 30 minutes of each trip is free.

Or take a guided bike tour and experience more of Belfast on two wheels with the help of a knowledgeable guide. We recommend Belfast City Bike Tours for a variety of tours to suit your eco-conscious needs.

Translink Metro Bus

On Public Transport

Translink offers transport across Belfast and Northern Ireland, and they are committed to sustainable travel for locals and visitors alike.

Hop on a Translink Glider service that runs from the west to the east of the city, or use the Metro bus services to get to and from the city centre from just about anywhere in Belfast. The NI Rail service is perfect for exploring greater Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor or for venturing to the Causeway Coast.

The Enterprise train connects Dublin to Belfast so you can relax as you journey and leave the car behind.

If you’re planning on making the most of public transport in Belfast, make sure to pick up a Belfast Visitor Pass to bag lots of offers on local attractions.

Low-Emission and Electric Transport

Sometimes it just makes sense to get straight from A to B, safe in the knowledge that the taxi driver knows the way! Over 60% of Value Cabs’ fleet is now low-emission and you can request a low-emission vehicle in advance, promising a more environmentally-friendly way to get around the city.

If you’re exploring the city in an electric car, you can find a number of charging points to top up and tour. In the city centre you can recharge at Victoria Square or the Fitzwilliam Hotel. You’ll find a charging point in the Titanic Quarter at Titanic Belfast, and if you’re exploring the east, the Stormont Hotel has a convenient charging point.
