Echlinville Distillery
Description
The Echlinville Distillery on the Ards Peninsula became Northern Ireland's first licenced distillery in over 125 years, distilling its first spirit in 2013.
Nestled among the rolling drumlins of the Ards Peninsula, Echlinville became the first new distillery in Northern Ireland for more than 125 years when it received its license and casked its first spirit on 5 August 2013.
Echlinville has since established itself at the forefront of Ireland’s burgeoning spirits industry and is home to some of the country’s best-known and respected brands including Dunville’s Irish Whiskey, Jawbox Gin, Echlinville Single Estate Irish Pot Still Gin, Bán Poitín and their latest release – Weavers Gin.
A genuine farm distillery, all Echlinville’s new make spirit is distilled from barley grown, harvested and floor malted on their distillery farm near the shores of Strangford Lough. Echlinville is a place where the ancient art of distilling is revered, where Irish whiskey heritage is respected, and where tradition has its place alongside innovation in the quest to produce the finest spirits.
Echlinville has also made a name for itself on the whiskey tourist trail, with distillery tours attracting visitors from home and abroad.
The distillery’s sense of place and family feel seems to resonate with the many visitors who are welcomed to celebrate the sights, smells, and tastes of Echlinville and the Ards Peninsula.
The heart of whiskey may be grain and oak, but the soul of any spirit is its connection to the place where it is made. Echlinville are proud of their roots in the Ards Peninsula. That pride of place is the essence of everything they do and propels Echlinville’s plans for the future.
