More than likely, you’ve taken a fantastic photo or video of Belfast and its surrounding areas and have tagged us @visitbelfast or used the hashtag #visitbelfast. We think our followers will really love your photo and we would love to share it with them on our social media channels, so we are asking for your permission to do so via a message request under your photo/video with one of the hashtags:

#visitbelfast #yesbelfast

Here are some guidelines on usage rights for your image:

What do I need to know?

Visit Belfast is the official organisation responsible for marketing Belfast and its surrounding areas locally and overseas as a tourism destination.

By responding to our message request with the Hashtag, you represent and warrant that:

• you are an individual eighteen (18) years of age or older;

• you own all rights in and to your photos and they are not copied from any third parties;

• you have permission from any adult(s) appearing in your photos to grant the rights herein;

• you have permission of parent/legal guardian where minors who have not yet reached the age of 16 may be featured;

• that you have read and that you agree to the following terms and conditions set out below.

What happens when I respond with one of your hashtags?

By responding to our message request with one of our Hashtags, you grant us permission to use your photo or videos in Visit Belfast content as follows:

• You grant Visit Belfast a non-exclusive, royalty free license to use your photo / video on our social media channels that include our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok account.

What this means

This means by responding with one of Hashtags to our  message request or posting content with the Hashtag, you assign Visit Belfast the right to use the photos or videos on their global social media channels in perpetuity. However, Visit Belfast shall have no obligation to use your photo.

Should Visit Belfast wish to use the photo / video in paid advertising activity, marketing materials or channels other than our owned social media channels, we will contact you first to discuss usage permissions for use as part of these additional activities, materials or channels.

Ownership of the photo / video content remains with the original content owner.

What do I get out of this?

Your photos may be viewed not only by you, but also by other fans of Belfast around the world. You have the opportunity to inspire others with your own self-expression and creativity. As of April 2024, Visit Belfast currently has over 431,000+  followers across our social platforms.

Visit Belfast will credit you for any images shared on social media. Our license is non-exclusive, meaning you can still use your photos and videos for your own purposes and let others use them for their purposes too.

Data Privacy

We respect your privacy and we value the trust you have put in us.

In reaching out to you about your photos/videos, we necessarily process your social media username. We only use this personal information for the purposes described above.

We are committed to keeping your personal information safe. We have physical, technical and administrative measures in place to prevent unauthorised access or use of your information.

What if I change my mind?

If you change your mind you can simply revoke the granting of these rights to Visit Belfast by contacting us directly on our social channels or emailing us at digital@visitbelfast.com

You can ask Visit Belfast to stop using your images at any time, in which case it will not be used in future publications.

Note: this will not apply to material already published material.

What if I have more questions?

Please don’t hesitate to contact Visit Belfast at digital@visitbelfast.com if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
