Description

Belfast TradFest presents one of the world’s finest exponents of traditional Irish song, Cara Dillon, in Belfast’s historic Ulster Hall for an enchanting evening of compelling songs, stories, and music this St. Patrick’s night, 17 March 2025.

Joining her are special guests Piaras Ó Lorcáin & Jack Warnock. Following opening performances for Amble, The Bothy Band, and appearances on Other Voices, these two rising stars will showcase the best of the new wave of Ulster traditional song.

Dillon’s acclaimed album Coming Home is a profound exploration of identity and emotion, and it has become a seminal work since its release in March 2024. A remarkable blend of song, spoken word, and storytelling, the album was inspired by her deep personal connection to the land, culture, and people of her native County Derry.

The album's impact is undeniable, with sold-out performances at Belfast's Grand Opera House and the Guildhall in Derry, three sold-out UK and Irish tours, a shortlist for the NI Music Prize, and a beautiful accompanying book. The response has been nothing short of overwhelming.

What began as a collection of Cara's private poems, written without the intention of sharing, Coming Home has developed into a passionate and immersive live show. Together with her extraordinary band, Cara skilfully interweaves this reflective new material with a carefully curated selection of her beloved classics, such as Black Is the Colour and The Parting Glass. The result is a tapestry that seamlessly blends songs, stories, and music in her most compelling live show yet.

In Coming Home, Dillon invites us on a journey through her heart and heritage, proving that music is not just an art form but a profound means of connection.
