Ladybird and Shieldbug Training Workshop
Description
Interested in learning about biodiversity? Join on Saturday 3rd August for a species identification workshop with the National Biodiversity Data Centre (NBDC).
In this workshop, Oisín Duffy from the NBDC will introduce you to the species of Ladybird and Shield Bug that are currently found in Northern Ireland and the ROI. He will also introduce the Ladybird Atlas 2025 project.
You’ll learn to look for features of the insects to be able to identify and record them in your environment. After the Introduction, you will visit the nearby grounds of the Folk Museum to hunt for species, guided by Oisín.
What to know:
-This event will take place in the Lagan room at the Ulster Folk Museum where tea and coffee will be provided before heading into the museum grounds.
-This workshop is suitable for 18+
-All levels of species identification experience are welcome.
-Suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor fieldwork is essential.
-Please consider bringing along sunscreen, a hat, water, and your net if you have one.
-Please bring a packed lunch as you will be out in the field most of the day.
