Description

For the first time in this format, three of Northern Ireland’s finest musicians combine to form a bluesy-drenched jazz supergroup.

Guitarist Ronnie Greer stands as a celebrated figure in the Northern Ireland music landscape. Esteemed for his mastery of blues and jazz guitar, Ronnie's artistry has infused vigor into numerous esteemed bands. His tenure with the renowned Jim Daly Blues Band is particularly noted, amongst his many collaborations.

The quintessence of Ronnie's sound is a fusion of classic Chicago blues with a twist; a melodic conversation between robust blues riffs and the funky slide guitar reminiscent of Little Feat, all underscored by a vibrant rhythm section.

Joining Ronnie will be one of Northern Ireland’s most celebrated musical exports, drummer Darren Beckett. Darren began his career early when, as a teenager, he was awarded the prestigious Bass Ireland Award. Shortly thereafter, Beckett headed off to New York City to study jazz and claim New York as his residence for a period of 21 years. During this time Beckett earned a Masters in Jazz Performance and he also graced some of the most prestigious venues in the world as a performer including Carnegie Hall in New York City and Royal Albert Hall in London. Additionally, he has performed/recorded on over 50 albums with such well known artists as Lee Konitz, James Williams, Brandon Flowers, Madeleine Peyroux, Kenny Wheeler, and, George Colligan. Beckett has also toured with Lauryn Hill (The Fugees), English soul singer James Hunter, and he regularly appears with Brandon Flowers (formerly of The Killers).

Their co-founder Scott Flanigan will be the other third of this exciting trio on Hammond organ. Scott Flanigan is one of the foremost keyboard players on the Irish jazz scene. He performs regularly across the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Germany, and has recently performed with Van Morrison, the Ulster Orchestra, Larry Coryell, Jean Toussaint, Jim Mullen and Linley Hamilton. As a leader, Scott successfully tours his own contemporary piano trio, as well as a hard-swinging organ quartet.

Doors 8:30//Music 9pm.
