Maritime Belfast Trust
Description
Maritime Belfast Trust works to preserve and promote Belfast’s rich maritime heritage for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
The charity was set up in 2007 as the Titanic Foundation, with a primary objective to oversee the delivery of the Titanic Belfast visitor attraction, which opened on March 31st 2012. Since then, the Trust have acquired the SS Nomadic and incorporated it into the Titanic Belfast experience, led on the restoration of the former H&W Drawing Offices, now Titanic Hotel Belfast, and preserved one of the rarest lighthouse optics in the world, now publicly displayed on Belfast’s waterfront as the Great Light.
Maritime Belfast Trust have also developed the award-winning, Maritime Mile initiative in association with the Belfast Harbour, Odyssey Trust and Titanic Quarter Limited. The Maritime Mile is a curated experience that connects and celebrates Belfast’s vibrant heritage waterfront for everyone. It represents one navigational mile of water and 10 kilometres of accessible, connected waterfront, where local people and visitors can walk, cycle, run and play in the footsteps of giants as they explore Belfast’s, iconic waterfront.
