Description

Super authentic Mexican street food paired with a banging cocktail menu, served in a relaxed space with a casual vibe.

At La Taqueria, the food speaks for itself. A small family of independent taco restaurants in Belfast; La Taqueria’s craft is rooted in trusted, traditional Mexican flavours and recipes that not only showcase some of Northern Ireland’s famous local produce but also Mexico’s amazing ingredients that the team at La Taqueria ships in themselves.

La Taqueria’s journey started as a conversation between two friend, Steve and Andy (Home Restaurant and Mourne Seafood Bar), and their dream of opening an authentic Mexican restaurant filled with tequila, mezcal, cervezas and great music.

When it comes to Mexican street food, they don’t mess around: forget soulless tacos drowned in melted cheese and sour cream. La Taqueria is proud to ship their ingredients from Mexico – from dry chillies and cinnamon sticks to soft drinks and spices. Their food is mirrored by the drinks, which focus on artisan tequila and mezcal, letting high-quality ingredients shine.

La Taqueria started as a pop-up in September 2016, but when the prestigious McKennas’ Restaurant Guide awarded them best restaurant in Ireland – not just best Mexican or even ethnic restaurant, but the best restaurant – they knew it was time to put roots down. They opened a second restaurant in February 2019 (at 274 – 276 Ormeau Road, BT7 2GB, 028 9064 4477) and welcomed two new business partners, Gary Lightbody and Nathan Connolly from local rock band Snow Patrol.
