Description

Discover the real history of the Peacewalls and Troubles of Belfast in the company of the men who took part in the 30 year conflict.

Now world famous and five star rated, this totally unique Conflicting Stories Cab tour is the ultimate immersive experience of the Irish Conflict in the company of those who once were deadly enemies and now real friends. Travelling in licenced Belfast Cabs you will hear from these primary sources who actually took part in the Troubles from their outbreak in 1966 until their conclusion in 1998 with the Good Friday Agreement. Each ex-combatant will relate their personal political and conflict experiences on their own segment of the tour which lasts for one hour before passengers are transferred over to the other former combatant for a fascinating, conflicting, yet still personally valid Troubles story.

On this experience you will hear tragic and telling personal stories of deadly bombs, random gun attacks, Rubber Bullet deaths and long years of incarceration. You will not only be immersed in the darkest of Belfast’s 30 year conflict you will also discover the rich cultural heritage of both religious and political communities through the artistic lens of the many murals that portray the political ideologies of each culture. This tour and experience has been featured on international media companies as well as being validated by US and European Universities and there is an accompanying book with a forward by US Academics that can provide a more in-depth and academic background for those wishing to research the tour’s content further. You will be picked up from a central Belfast hotel (Ibis) and returned there at the end of the experience (other pick-ups and drop-offs can be arranged with a slight additional cost.)

The tours run three times every day but pre-booking is essential due to the need to book the two former antagonists and you will travel in fully licenced Belfast Cabs with a number of stop off points including toilets along the way.

Please note:

The recent period known as 'The Troubles' is a very contentious time and is still raw in many peoples minds and hearts, the purpose of this tour is to give the guest insight to why young men and women would voluntary involve themselves in a conflict knowing that it would ultimately lead to their imprisonment at best or potential death. it will explain why people got involved in the violence that resulted in the loss of life of both combatants and innocent people alike.
