Making Christmas: Rag Wreaths
Description
Make your own Christmas rag wreath on Sunday 1st December, as we embrace the make do and mend sensibility of the past.
Get inspired by the furnishings of their Folk Museum exhibit buildings - the rag rugs, the bedcovers, and the contents of the draper's shops, as you look for colours and textures to work into your fabric wreath. Learn how people of the past re-used textiles to make rugs, decorations and more before you settle down to make your own wreath using strips of textiles.
Materials will be provided and in the spirit of the event they encourage you to bring any old textiles that you'd like to add into your wreath - think old Christmas pyjamas and fabrics that will otherwise be going to waste!
You'll also get some tasty treats from Erin at The Edible Flower to fuel your creativity. Start with some warm mulled apple juice to drink, before enjoying mini herb scones with lemon & dulse butter and Walter Ewings Smoked Salmon, followed by a Tunisian orange cake with Greek yoghurt.*
