Craft NI Gallery are delighted to welcome renowned Irish silversmith Séamus Gill as a guest maker!
Séamus Gill is recognised as one of Ireland's leading silversmiths - all his work is about the joy of working directly with the material, using a hammer and anvil to transform a flat sheet of silver or bronze using traditional age-old silversmithing skills.
This festive season, both his 'Golden Twist' and the 'Silver Twist' collections are available in the Gallery; based on reinterpreting the shape and form of the ancient Irish gold ribbon torcs, each piece is formed using similar techniques to the bronze-age smiths with the working marks of the hammer blows remaining as gentle ripples on the polished silver surface.
