Description
Explore natural sciences and observe the partial solar eclipse with Queen’s University at the Ulster Museum on Saturday 29th March.
On Saturday 29th March, between 10:00 and noon, a partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. The moon will pass between the Sun and the Earth, blocking out almost half of the visible solar disk.
Head outside to the Tropical Ravine to watch the eclipse safely using solar telescopes and eclipse glasses. We'll even show you how to project the eclipse using two sheets of paper! After watching the eclipse, join for a free talk in the Elements Gallery at the Ulster Museum on how eclipses occur with by Dr Ryan Milligan at 12:00.
At this astronomical event, you can enjoy a range of activities, from learning about aurorae and the structure of the Sun to stepping inside an inflatable planetarium to explore the night sky. Find out how we can see the entire life cycle of a star in a single night during a 15-minute show. Discover the places where stars are born, how they grow, and what they leave behind when they're gone. Please note that there are limited spaces for this show, tickets can be booked on the day at the Ulster Museum reception.
What to know:
