The ‘All Americans’ in Northern Ireland – the 82nd Airborne Division Story by John P McCann
Description
The Northern Ireland War Memorial (NIWM) and the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) are delighted to welcome you to the second of three events to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in June 1944.
John P. McCann will give a presentation recalling the famed Airborne Division’s visit to Northern Ireland during the winter of 1943/44. Using the memories of many troopers, it looks at their experiences and the relationship that developed between themselves and the people of Northern Ireland: a country they came to call their ‘Oasis Between Battlefields’.
John P. McCann is author of Passing through – the 82nd Airborne Division in Northern Ireland 1943-1944.
The lecture will take place on Thursday 13 June 2024 at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), 2 Titanic Boulevard, Titanic Quarter, Belfast, BT3 9 HQ at 1pm.
