Description

Wander the snowy, cobbled streets of the Ulster Folk Museum and experience Christmas the traditional way.

See the Folk Museum decorated for the festive season, from the grandeur of the Rectory to the simplicity of the Tea Lane houses. Meet their craft demonstrators as they prepare for seasonal celebrations and take in the festive scents of cinnamon toast warming on the open fire. Settle in for a festive story and listen out for carol singers, plus festive sounds from a brass band and harpist. Post your letter to Santa at our Post Office, and make sure to say hello to the donkeys at the Marketplace.

Warm up with a festive drink in the cosy surroundings of McCusker's pub, now fully licensed (whilst being responsible) - spiced cider, mulled wine or hot toddy. Make something to bring home in their Christmas-themed craft stations, treat yourself in our traditional sweet shop and discover the traditions of Christmas past with them this Christmas.

What to know:

  • An accessible bus will be available on all dates to transport visitors from their lower car park to the museum. They recommend making use of public transport where possible. Get 20% discount on green tickets when you show proof of a public transport ticket on arrival.
  • They recommend online booking for their Christmas experience, as it's through general admission. Walk-ups will be permitted but could be limited if the museum is full/pre-purchased tickets sell out.
  • Music performances will vary across the dates advertised.
  • Father Christmas visits require a separate ticket which can be purchased here.

Please note: the above activity will be taking place across weekends only, Saturday and Sunday, starting 30th November and then Christmas week until Sunday 22nd December. There'll be a lighter touch to Christmas on weekdays, although you can still enjoy exhibit buildings decorated for Christmas and festive demonstrations by their resident makers.
