Description

Join Kabosh for Mary Ann, The Forgotten Sister, a theatrical exploration of the life and legacy of Mary Ann McCracken.

MARY ANN MCCRACKEN

Dílis go héag.

Faithful til Death.

Wept by her brother’s scaffold 17th July 1798

Died 26th July 1866.

But this forgotten daughter of Belfast gave so much more to the city than the words that memorialise her.

She was a great deal more than just her famous brother’s sister.

Offering nearly a century of thought, eloquence, and action delivered in her own name.

In doing so, Mary Ann took her place amongst a long list of audacious women of Belfast, who devoted time and talent to repairing the fabric of our society, quietly stitching their own stories into the margins of our history.

More than a beloved sister to Henry Joy but a sister to Belfast. Beloved of Belfast.

Featuring Maria Connolly, Calla Hughes, and Carol Moore.

Costume Design by Úna Hickey.

Music direction by Jane Cassidy.

Beginning at Clifton Cemetery (Henry Street) and concluding at Clifton House.
