Cairde na Cille are delighted to be offering at Friar’s Bush Graveyard as part of Féile na nGael Feirste festival with 4talks/tour eventsin Irish and English funded by Foras Na Gaeilge.

There are a variety of heritage talks and tours with traditional Irish music out is the fresh air: From Irish saints to the Fairy Lore of Bealtaine and from the Tragic Gorta Mór/Great Irish Famine to celebrating Belfast’s Master Harper, Valentine Rennie.All events will be held in Irish in Cill Pádraig, Belfast City’s most ancient and spiritual graveyard, linked to St Patrick, The Famine, Fairies and the Belfast Harp Tradition and there is a choice to tour (in English) nearby Botanic Gardens afterwards too.

  • Saturday 24 May 11:00“Gorta: Camchuairt , Caint agus Cuimhneacháin le Ceol” agus Turas i mBearla ina dhiadh “Graves and Gardens” Talk with music in Irishfollowed by tour in English.
  • Saturday 21 June “ Ceol Máistir na gCruit i mBéal Feirste: Caint: Ceiliúradh Valentine Rennie” le Deirdre Nic an tSionnaigh, Ciara Ní Tháth agus Antóin Mac an tSionnaigh agus Turas i mBearla ina dhiadh “Graves and Gardens” Talk with music in Irish followed by tour in English.

Cost £15. Concession rates: £7 for Children (12-18), Seniors, Students and Unwaged

Duration: 110 minutes minimum

Once purchased, tickets cannot be transferred, exchanged, refunded or returned unless the tour is cancelled. All elderly, frail or disabled should have accompanying adults and hard of hearing should stay close to guide.

The Irish on this tour is pitched to intermediate Irish level. There is a full long tour in English afterwards.
